DURHAM -- Power outages caused by intense weekend storms were largely resolved across the Triangle Sunday evening.

About 135 homes remained without power in Durham at 5:30 p.m., while Orange County was down to just 5 homes in the dark.

Severe storms swept the Triangle on Friday, and 7,000 homes didn't have power on Saturday morning.

Last night Interstate 40 was closed at N.C. 55 in Durham County because of flooding, the State Highway Patrol said. Lanes were open again at 5 a.m. The weather service says the area will see more storms this afternoon and tonight, and there's potential for more flooding.

Meanwhile, severe storms in the southern part of the state left 4,828 homes without power in Mecklenberg County and 4,521 in Forsyth County.
