A man whom authorities think shot and killed a man at a dog-fighting venue in Johnston County last month has been arrested in Virginia.
Keon K. Rowe, 25, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Danny Ray Edwards at a farm near Kenly. He is being held in Suffolk, Va., where he was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Service on Thursday night, said Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell.
Authorities have been looking for Rowe since Feb. 24 when they say he and Edwards got into an argument over pit bulls at a farm owned by Tristan Hinson on J. Howell Road. They say Rowe shot Edwards in the head; Edwards died at Pitt Memorial Hospital two days later.
When they investigated the shooting, sheriff’s deputies found 47 pit bulls trained for fighting, and charged Hinson with felony dogfighting.
