RALEIGH -- A man was shot to death outside a downtown restaurant early Saturday after getting into an argument with another patron, police said.

Police think Terran Deon Jennings, 26, of Raleigh was shot about 2 a.m. as he left the Five Star Restaurant, a chinese eatery and bar at 511 W. Hargett St. in Raleigh's warehouse district.

Police say James Oscar Fant III, 27, of 3200-9 Sugar Pine Trail in Durham was outside with a gun. They say Fant left the restaurant a few minutes before Jennings.

The sound of gunfire summoned two Raleigh police officers working off duty nearby. When they arrived, Jennings had been shot several times and Fant was nearby, according to police.

Jennings was declared dead at the scene. Fant is in the Wake County jail without bond on a murder charge.
