The Wake County 911 center has been overwhelmed with calls from people seeking information about the hazardous chemical fire in Apex, officials said.

They urged people to stay tuned to local media for updates on the fire and to direct their non-emergency calls to the Wake County Emergency Operations Center at 856-7044.

By 8 a.m., the 911 center had received hundreds of calls about the fire, tying up emergency operators.
