Republican Vernon Robinson didn't just go after his Democratic opponent, U.S. Rep. Brad Miller, during a debate on Friday. Robinson also got in a spirited argument with the moderator, WRAL anchorman David Crabtree.

The dispute started off-camera during a commercial break when Crabtree held up a copy of a bill regarding the ability of gay people to help their partners get a visa to immigrate to the United States. Crabtree told Robinson he could not find language in the bill that said what Robinson said the bill did.

"I understand that your church supports the ordination of homosexual clergy and you are deacon, and that is why you are taking the ridiculous position," Robinson said.

Crabtree responded: "I will not allow you to prostitute the airwaves. But I will say to you, my choice of worship is up to me. I will leave it at that."

Crabtree is an ordained deacon at The Church of the Good Shepherd, an Episcopal church in Raleigh.
