The student cafeteria at Methodist University in Fayetteville scored its worst sanitation rating since 1999 last month when inspectors found several problems, including workers failing to wash their hands and storing items on dirty floors.
Cumberland County health inspectors gave the cafeteria a score of 79, but the cafeteria scored a 95 when it was inspected again Wednesday.
Mark Steepe, spokesman for cafeteria contractor Sodexho, said the initial score was abnormal and blamed faulty lighting and an old building for the problems.
Student health is among the university's top priorities, and school officials were working with Sodexho and the local health department, school spokeswoman Melissa Jamieson said.
