The U.S. Post Office in Moncure was robbed today at gunpoint by a man who got away with cash and money orders, according to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said that the man entered the post office and asked about buying four money orders for an undisclosed amount of money. When he was given the money orders, according to the sheriff’s office account, he reached into the front of his pants and pulled out a black pistol.

He took the money orders and an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 45 years old, wearing a light colored T-shirt (possibly tan in color), tan pants, mustard colored hat with a big “G “ on it, big glasses, unshaven, with a cut on his right hand. The suspect’s vehicle may have been a white Mitsubishi with a paper "Enterprise Rental" tag with black numbers.

No one was injured in the incident.
