Raleigh Running Outfitters of North Raleigh was named one of the 50 Best Running Stores in America by The Running Network and Formula 4 Media, publisher of Footwear Intelligence. The winning stores will be featured in an insert in Footwear Intelligence and The Running Network publications.

Peak Automotive in Apex was a winner in Motor Age magazine's Top Vehicle Repair Shops contest. The shop is featured in the September issue of the magazine.

Frank Harmon of Frank Harmon Architect in Raleigh, received an award from the South Atlantic region of the American Institute of Architects for his design of a modern, environmentally sensitive residence on Shem Creek in Charleston, S.C.

R+M, a brand development and management agency in Cary, did rebranding work for YMCA Camp Kanata and Cancer Centers of North Carolina that won awards at the second annual ReBrand 100 Global Awards, sponsored by the Center for Design & Business.

Chapel Hill-based InfoHandler.com is an honoree in PC Magazine's SMB 20 Awards, for small to medium businesses that use technology in innovative ways. The winners will be featured in the October issue of PC Magazine.

Grant Mills, a health physicist from the N.C. Radiation Protection Section in Raleigh, graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School's Center for Homeland Defense and Security.

Jerry L. Stephenson Jr., who works in the Crabtree office of Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston, earned the Accredited Buyer's representative designation, regarded as a benchmark for excellence in real estate sales. Myra Zollinger, co-owner of Coldwell Banker Realty Center in Chapel Hill, was named 2006 N.C. Realtor of the Year by the N.C. Association of Realtors during a ceremony at the organization's annual convention in Savannah, Ga.

Steve Noe, president of Business IT Professionals in Cary, was awarded the Microsoft Certified Trainer credential. As a result, Noe will teach Microsoft's official curriculum to customer relationship management students.

1st American Builders, a real estate development company, received three STARS Awards from the N.C. Homebuilders Association during the 2006 STARS Awards Gala. The awards were for Best Television Commercial, Best Internet Web site and Best Brochure/Direct Mail.

L.G. Jordan Oil Co. of Apex won a 2006 Donald M. Ward Corporate Excellence Award from the N.C. Petroleum Marketers Association at its fall convention in Isle of Palms, S.C. Harold W. Berry Jr., a managing partner of Raleigh law firm Hatch, Little & Bunn, won the 2006 William A. Parker Memorial Award, which is given in recognition of service, achievement and success.

J. Anthony Penry, a partner with Taylor Penry Rash & Riemann, was named one of the Best Lawyers in America 2007. Also included in the list are: Ron Dilthey, Robert Clay and Mark Anderson of Patterson, Dilthey, Clay, Bryson & Anderson; and John L. Crill, Kenneth E. Eheman Jr., J. Christopher Lynch and Larry E. Robbins of Wyrick Robbins Yates & Ponton.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina won an honor for innovation and effectiveness from the Harvard Medical School's Department of Health Care Policy. The citation was for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina's Healthy Lifestyle Choices program.
