DURHAM -- Parata Systems, a manufacturer of robotic pharmacy equipment, has bought technology from a California company to make self-serve machines that could dispense prescription drugs to patients.
Parata plans to sell the machines to mass merchandizers, grocery chains and large retail pharmacy chains that may want to offer customers after-hour prescription drug pickup and faster service.
The company said the expansion will add about 20 engineering and technical positions in the Triangle, where about 300 of Parata's 415 employees work.
