I've just tried my third Shrimp and Grits recipe, and it's nowhere near as tasty as the one offered at NOFO. Could you please convince the folks at NOFO to share? -- L.H., Raleigh

Jean Martin, one of the owners of NOFO Café (2014 Fairview Rd.; 821-1240; www.nofo.com), shares the recipe, noting that it's adapted from the one made famous by Bill Neal at Crook's Corner in Chapel Hill. "Steve Flaugher (Martin's partner at NOFO) trained under Bill Neal at Crook's," Martin explains, "and was then chef at Crook's by the River in Wilmington." Current NOFO chef David Mitchell also shares recipes for his signature Tapenade and Sherry Vinaigrette.
