Fig festival

Fans of Pittsboro potter Siglinda Scarpa may not realize that she runs a shelter for homeless cats called The Goathouse Refuge.

On Sept. 13, Scarpa is hosting the Fabulous Fig Festival to benefit the shelter on a 16-acre farm near Pittsboro. The event includes a buffet of 13 dishes containing figs and each attendee will receive an original Scarpa gelato cup to take home. Tickets to the event cost $78 per person or $145 per couple.

To buy tickets or for more information, go to www.goathouserefuge.org/figfestival.html.
