Country music star Jason Michael Carroll paid his dues on the stage of Raleigh's late, lamented Longbranch Saloon. The venue served the young singer well, as he honed his chops and earned a legion of loyal fans who've applauded his launch to the Big Time with "Waitin' in the Country," his Arista Records debut. Tonight, JMC takes to Walnut Creek Amphitheater's big stage to sing "Alyssa Lies" and other hits as an opening act for Martina McBride. Jack Ingram will also perform.

-- Tonight: Polecat Creek, the Triad's folk duo of Kari Sickenberger and Laurelyn Dossett, will wrap their dulcet harmonies around original and traditional old-time songs and ballads at the American Tobacco Campus.
