It looks like we'll get another chance to see Sidney Lowe in that red jacket.
N.C. State's men's basketball coach said Monday during his live radio show from Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh that he plans to wear the jacket -- the one that has stirred up a light-hearted debate among Triangle college basketball fans in recent months -- at the ACC Tournament in Tampa.
The jacket has a love-it or hate-it appeal that likely has more to do with school rivalries than it does good taste.
Lowe asked Cary menswear tailor George L. Saunders to make him the jacket to wear when State took on UNC in Raleigh in early February. It was a tribute to the late Jim Valvano, the N.C. State coach who often wore red for big games, including the game against UNC.
Lowe wore it again a few weeks later in Chapel Hill during the last State-Carolina match-up.
Look for it tonight as State takes on Duke University at 7 p.m. during the first round of the tournament.
