Learn about Johnston County's most famous daughter with a trip to the Ava Gardner Museum in Smithfield. The museum houses a collection of memorabilia, costumes and personal effects of the late movie star. Items on display include costumes from several of Gardner's films and a watch Gardner gave to her husband, Frank Sinatra. First opened by Tom Banks, the museum moved to Smithfield after Banks' death in 1989.
