Appalachian State may still be celebrating its football victory over the University of Michigan. But the Mountaineers also have reason to be proud of Eric Church, the school's songwriting, guitar-slinging alumnus whose 2006 album, "Sinners Like Me," debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard country albums chart. The album has spawned top 20 singles with "How 'bout You," "Two Pink Lines" and "Guys Like Me." On Saturday, the Granite Falls native will perform these and other songs at the Longbranch. On Saturday at noon, Church will lead a "Tree Choir" event -- a green initiative tree-planting -- with his fan club, the Church Choir, at Lions Park. After the planting, Church will perform an acoustic set for those on hand.The 10th annual Carrboro Music Festival will take place Sunday with a variety of music and other events at several venues throughout the town. On Saturday, the festival will kick off with a concert at the ArtsCenter. Local artists Tres Chicas, Two Dollar Pistols and Great Big Gone will perform.
