Raleigh resident Kristi Yamaguchi will doff her ice skates for dancing shoes when the sixth season of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" premieres at 8 p.m. March 17.
The 36-year-old figure skater, who lives in Raleigh with her husband, Bret Hedican of the Carolina Hurricanes, was the 1992 Olympics gold medalist in women's singles, as well as a two World Figure Skating Championships and a 1992 U.S. Figure Skating Championship.
She will compete on the wildly popular "Dancing With the Stars" with 11 other celebrities including comedian Adam Carolla, magician Penn Jillette, Elvis's former wife Priscilla Presley and hearing-impaired actress Marlee Matlin.
