A widowed college professor (Richard Jenkins) travels to New York to attend a conference and finds a young couple living in his apartment. Imagine their shock when he lets them continue to stay there. This tender character study is a showcase for Jenkins, so very good at being very reserved that when his frigid, lonely facade starts to melt we can't help but melt with him. The energy flags somewhat in the middle acts, but this wistful comedy quickly finds its rhythm, never letting it become a rut. The cast includes Michael Cumpsty, the British actor who graduated from UNC-CH's Professional Actors Training Program.
