Gov. Mike Easley said today that "everybody was in shock" to learn of the actions by former House Speaker Jim Black that led him to plead state and federal felony charges in the past two weeks.
Easley said it was "a sad day" for North Carolina, but blamed it on "human frailty" and not the campaign finance system.
Easley said Black's actions are something state leaders need to "look at, learn from and move on."
