  • What is The N&O ZONE?
    The N&O ZONE is a Subscriber Rewards program that thanks and rewards N&O print subscribers for their loyalty with exclusive discounts from various businesses including restaurants and entertainment venues, weekly giveaways and other perks. The ZONE also features:
    • FREE passes to advance movie screenings
    • FREE giveaways including tickets to concerts, sporting events and stage shows and other prizes
    • EXCLUSIVE access to N&O Subscriber-only events
    • Half-price newspaper Classified ads

    Who is eligible for the ZONE?
    To qualify for full ZONE access:
    1. You must be a current N&O home delivery newspaper subscriber*. Click here to SUBSCRIBE.
    2. You must be a registered member of newsobserver.com. Click here to REGISTER.

    *Every N&O print subscriber is eligible, even if you subscribe to the Sunday paper only. All new N&O subscribers will have ZONE access starting the day after their home delivery begins.

    How do I access the ZONE?
    You must meet both ZONE qualifications above. As a print subscriber, once you've registered as a member of newsobserver.com and are logged in, click here to get started.

    How do I log in to newsobserver.com?
    You are logged in when you see "Welcome, Your Name / Log Out" inside the light gray bar at the top of this page. If it says, "Register / Log In" then click on Log In. At the Member Center-Login page where it says "Already registered?" enter your Member ID and password, check the box that says "Remember me on this computer until I sign out" and press Login. Each time you return to the site you will be automatically logged in.

    I forgot my newsobserver.com login information.
    No problem. Simply click here and we’ll e-mail it to you.

    I'm having trouble with the log in step.
    Browsers that are set to enable newsobserver.com and ZONE cookies are necessary to experience N&O ZONE. Browsers are software programs used to access Internet pages and files; cookies help internet sites recognize you each time you return. Relax, this isn't as complicated as it might sound! For simple instructions on how to enable newsobserver.com and N&O ZONE cookies, please visit our Member Account Help page.
    Note: Road Runner users in particular may encounter difficulty logging in because the free security suite that comes with Road Runner defaults to a "no cookies" setting. Click here for instructions on how Road Runner users can adjust their settings to accept newsobserver.com and N&O ZONE cookies.

    I meet ZONE qualifications, but I’m having trouble with the subscription validation process.
    First, make sure you are logged in to newsobserver.com. You'll know you are logged in when you see "Welcome, Your Name" up at the top of the page inside the light gray bar. If you've skipped logging in and are trying to access a ZONE coupon or contest entry form, you will encounter a loop that keeps asking you to enter your subscriber information.
    If you're logged in and get an error message when you try to validate your subscription, it's okay -- we can help. We understand that you may have moved or changed phone numbers since you started your subscription. To find the phone number or house number listed on your account, please call (800) 522-4205 and our Customer Service department will be happy to help! Or, email zonecontact@nando.com or call the ZONE info line at 919-836-2890 Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM (EST) for assistance.

    When I click on a ZONE offer or promotion nothing happens—help!
    Some computers have pop-up blockers that prevent your coupon pages from opening. Try this: when you click an offer, hold down the ctrl key. This will temporarily allow your coupon windows to pop-up.

    Is there a limit to the amount of coupons I can use?
    No. If you’re an eligible ZONE member, take advantage of the offers as frequently as you like!
    Note: All ZONE offers and promotions include an expiration date or "while supplies last" clause. Make sure you pay attention to the information on your coupons!

    Is there a limit to the number of contests I can enter?
    No, but you may only enter each contest once and only one contest entry per subscriber household is allowed. Your chances of winning are not increased by entering the contest more than once because duplicate contest entries are expunged.
    We understand that you may not remember if you previously entered a contest and if you accidentally enter more than once, we will omit all but the original entry.

    How can I add to or change my personal information that auto-fills the ZONE Contest Entry Forms?
    The personal information that automatically pre-fills ZONE Contest Entry Forms is provided by each individual when they register as a member of newsobserver.com. To make changes, simply go to Member Center / My Account, make your changes and save. Member Center is one of the tabs found in the light gray bar at the top of this page. Scroll over the words "Member Center" and click on My Account from the drop down menu that appears.
    NEW: To add your Alternate Phone number, go to Member Center / My Account / Household, enter the number and then click "Save Changes." We will not disclose any personal information without your advance permission.

    How will I know if I won something?
    Winners are notified via the email address supplied on their valid contest entry form. After winners have all been notified, the first name, last name initial and city of each winner is posted to the ZONE under "ZONE Contest Winners". If we need to reach a winner on short notice we will use the home phone and alternate phone numbers to contact you.

    How do the free advance movie screenings work?
    1. The N&O along with other local media outlets hosts special advance screenings of upcoming new movies, usually the week before the movie opens in theatres nationwide. Passes are required for admittance however having a pass does not guarantee seating. Just like the airlines, advance screenings can sometimes be "overbooked" when more passes are distributed then there are actually seats. You are strongly encouraged to arrive at least one hour early as seating is limited to theatre capacity on a first-come, first-served basis only. Neither the N&O nor the theatre is resonsible for seating over capacity.
    2. Screenings are monitored for unauthorized recordings and cell phones with camera and video capabilites are not permitted inside the theatre.

    How do I get free movie passes?
    There are two different ways to get free movie passes for advance screenings hosted by The N&O ZONE.
    1. Print out a ZONE Movie Pass Coupon from the N&O ZONE web site and present on a first-come, first-served basis at the date, time and location posted online and as advertised in the newspaper.
    2. For selected movies, the only way to get passes is by registering to win online at newsobserver.com/zone. Winners are then contacted by email and must claim their passes at the N&O Front Desk in downtown Raleigh prior to the screening. Sorry, movie passes are not available by mail or phone.

    How often are new ZONE offers and giveaways added?
    The ZONE is updated on Mondays with the newest ZONE Contests, Giveaways and Offers. Be sure to check it out each week for the hottest new deals. Look for the ads in the N&O everyday featuring our best ZONE offers!
