A big congratulations to Baileywick Elementary School counselor Dee Bostick, who claimed the North Carolina Counselor of the Year Award for elementary schools.

Bostick has been at Baileywick since 1997 and is known for her her therapeutic play area and for giving kids positive thoughts for the day.

She claimed the Wake County Public School System School Counselor of the Year Award earlier this year, which made her eligible to compete at the state level.

"There are two kinds of people: one who doesn't believe in miracles and one who believes everything is a miracle," Bostick said. "And this is a miracle."

On Monday, students and staff at Baileywick congratulated Bostick with cards, flowers, hugs and high-fives as she walked the halls of the school.

The honorary award comes with a plaque. Bostick now competes on the national level.

Students at the Montessori School of Raleigh on Lead Mine Road were in for a special treat on Thursday when young author Jackson Hughens and his father, David, read to them as part of the school's book fair.

Jackson, a 5-year-old kindergartner at the school, is the author of "G Gets Lost," a tale of the letter "G" finding its place back in the alphabet.

David Hughens read from his book "The Imagination Block." The book tells the story of Billy Boredom who loses his imagination from too much television and toys. But with help from the Angel of Imagination, Billy finds cool things to do.
