Millbrook Elementary School was under new leadership last week as fifth-grader DeAndre Bennett led the school alongside principal Therman Flowers.

Flowers chose DeAndre as a special treat for being selected as one of Wake County schools' Spotlight on Student winners, which recognizes students for their academic accomplishments. As Flowers' partner, DeAndre, sat in on an interview with a teacher and participated in meetings.
