DURHAM -- The state's first residential treatment program for eating disorders will open Monday in Durham.

Carolina House will offer treatment for patients with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. During active treatment, patients will live on-site at the farmhouse-style center, which is located on a 10-acre wooded campus in South Durham near the Chatham County line. The six-bed center is owned by CRC Health Group.

Carolina House will offer individual and group therapy, nutrition counseling and family sessions. It complements existing treatment options in the Triangle.

Duke Hospital treats eating disorders primarily on an outpatient basis. UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill offers outpatient treatment and inpatient hospitalization. For more information about Carolina House, call (866) 690-7240 or visit www.carolinaeatingdisorders.com.
