Each week, I’ll (hopefully) talk to a beat writer who covers Duke’s opponent. Today, we have Matt Porter, who covers Miami for the Palm Beach Post. Links to his work can be found here. Matt is also on Twitter at @mattyports.
Also, if you’re curious, the Duke-focused Q&A I did for Matt can be read here.
1. So, the Hurricanes have actually played two real opponents, which is nice to see—but they lost both games. Was 2-2 what you were expecting from them at this point, or is this slightly disappointing?

Tulane was sloppy in all three phases of the game, and Duke was there to take advantage. The Blue Devils scored 21 points off Tulane's five turnovers, including 14 directly from pick-sixes.

Three games in, and I have no clue how competitive Duke will be in the Coastal Division.

The Blue Devils are now 2-0, thanks to their 34-17 win at Troy last weekend. Of course, like in any game, some things worked and some things needed work.

The Blue Devils were able to put aside a quarter to forget and outscore the Trojans 31-3 over the final three quarters. Quarterback Anthony Boone started making more accurate throws and reads on option plays, including both his touchdown runs (30 yards in the second quarter, thanks to a nice block from Shaquille Powell, and 5 yards in the third).
