MARCH 28, 2006: An agent at the SBI lab tests the rape kit evidence and finds no presence of semen, blood or saliva.

APRIL 4: Agents at the SBI lab update Nifong on the case; Nifong asks Investigator Michele Soucie to call a private DNA lab for more sophisticated testing.

APRIL 10: Defense lawyers receive the SBI report on DNA evidence and conduct a news conference saying the players are innocent.

MAY 12: Nifong visits DNA Security Inc. to pick up the final report.

MAY 15: A grand jury indicts Dave Evans, based in part on the May 12 DNA Security report. It cannot exclude Evans as a possible source of DNA found on fake fingernails in a trash can.
