Zest for soups

Zest for soups

CorrespondentJanuary 5, 2005

I would love to know what they are doing to the soups over at Zest Cafe. It is so hard to get a good soup, and the soups at Zest are always special and just perfect. In particular, I'd like to get their recipes for Chicken Minestrone and Wild Mushroom and Barley Soup.

Zest Cafe & Home Art's unusual combination -- cheerily casual restaurant on one side, gourmet gift and home furnishings shop on the other -- has proven a winning formula for owners Marvin and Carla Swirsky. The North Raleigh establishment celebrated its ninth anniversary last month.

A key ingredient in the Cafe's enduring success is its frequently changing menu of traditional and contemporary American fare, built on a foundation of fresh ingredients. The restaurant's soups are no exception.
