Housing authority gets $681,400 grant

From Staff ReportsOctober 26, 2005

The Durham Housing Authority has won a new $681,400 federal grant.

The agency plans to use the money to help former public housing residents buy their own homes as part of a redevelopment project in East Durham. The authority was awarded a $35 million Hope VI grant five years ago to demolish the Few Gardens public housing complex and replace it with 415 single-family homes and apartment units.
