NEA chapter backs 2 for school board

From Staff ReportsOctober 28, 2005

The National Education Association's Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools chapter endorsed two of four candidates in the district's school board race.

It did not endorse a candidate to fill the third open seat.

The chapter wants incumbents Lisa Stuckey and Pam Hemminger to stay on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school board. But it didn't endorse either of the two challengers: parents Jeff Danner and Jean Hamilton.

"We shall not give our opinion -- for both are well qualified and would serve our students, employees and schools well," read a statement released Thursday by chapter President Ray Martin.
