Victim of drive-by in critical condition

From Staff ReportsDecember 16, 2005

Police identified the victim Thursday of a drive-by shooting that led to a police chase around Durham.

Police said Michael Bailey, 24, of Wiggins Street, was in critical condition Thursday after being shot the day before at Keystone Place in northern Durham.

Five suspects in a black Ford Expedition fled, leading police on a chase during rush-hour traffic. The driver of the Expedition then crashed, and the five men inside were arrested on drug charges.

Police were trying to determine whether they were responsible for shooting Bailey and for shooting at a house and car on Charles Street earlier Wednesday.
