DOT sets workshop on trail project

The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold an informational workshop on the American Tobacco Trail Project from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Central Carolina Community College's Multipurpose Room (Building 2) in Pittsboro. DOT staff will answer questions and accept written comments on the project.

The DOT has proposed developing a multi-use, 4.76-mile trail along the former American Tobacco railway corridor. Residents wanting more information should contact the N.C. Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation at 715-2342, or send e-mail to

The DOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this workshop. Anyone requiring special services should contact the phone number listed above so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
