Police seek relatives of man hit on I-40

Police are seeking family members of a man who was seriously injured when he was struck trying to cross Interstate 440 last week.

Alfonso Mendez, 36, has been in WakeMed since he was hit on the Beltline near New Bern Avenue during the morning commute April 5. Police say they think Mendez was homeless and frequently stayed near Tower Shopping Center at New Bern and Trawick Road.

Police ask anyone with information about his family to call 890-3350.
