Meeting addresses ending homelessness

From Staff ReportsApril 19, 2006

A committee dedicated to ending homelessness will hold a public meeting Thursday to establish direction and discuss the group's 10-year plan.

The meeting will be held at the First Baptist Church at 99 S. Salisbury St. in Raleigh at 6:30 p.m. The committee is a partnership of the city of Raleigh, Wake County, Triangle United Way, and Wake Continuum of Care.

The partnership was created to develop and implement an action plan with the goal of ending and preventing homelessness in the community.

The presentation will feature a first-year summary of the group's goals and accomplishments.

A group of local high school students will also present its research on homelessness. Attendees will be invited to participate in an interactive session to set the priorities for the next phase in the plan.
