Get claws into Foster's specials

CorrespondentMay 3, 2006

My husband and I always look forward to a special treat on weekend mornings at Foster's Market in Durham -- the Bear Claws. Any chance you can obtain the recipe for us?

-- H.D., Durham

Sara Foster, owner of this Durham landmark restaurant (as well as a second Foster's Market in Chapel Hill), is happy to oblige. She notes that Corey's Bear Claws are named for Foster's Market baker Corey Foley, who created the recipe 12 years ago. She adds that they're an all-time customer favorite.

To balance the sweet, Foster also offers a savory nibble from her thoroughly researched and beautifully illustrated cookbook "Fresh Every Day": Country Ham Hash with Chipotle Mustard.
