Sidewalk to ease trek to high school

From Staff ReportsMay 4, 2006

— Students who live near Chapel Hill High School will find it much easier to walk to school come August.

The state Department of Transportation will lay down a four-foot sidewalk along Homestead Road from its intersection with Rogers Road to High School Road.

The department will also add crosswalks to the intersection of Homestead Road and High School Road.

Concerned about students walking close to traffic, parents and officials have pushed for these improvements for years.
