Lacrosse case figure appears in court

From Staff ReportsJune 1, 2006

— The woman known as the second escort service dancer at a Duke University lacrosse team party appeared in court this week to answer a probation violation charge.

Kim Roberts appeared in a Durham County Superior Courtroom on Tuesday for a first appearance on the probation violation charge. She told a judge that she has an attorney and waived her right to court-appointed counsel during the routine hearing. She has emerged as an important witness in a reported rape at a March lacrosse team party.

Roberts is on probation for an embezzlement conviction. Her case was scheduled for July 24.
