Man is charged with embezzlement

From Staff ReportsJune 21, 2006

— A Durham businessman was jailed Tuesday, accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from an investor and company co-owner.

Jason Kwang Chulk Song, 37, was arrested on charges of siphoning $220,000 from Video Editing Center LLC, according to a Durham police news release. Investigators think Song, also known as Jason Curtis Rasmussen, was taking money from his business partner and their company for personal gain, the release said.

Police say Song, of 518 Hunting Chase, had been diverting the money at least since February, according to court records.

Song was being held at the Durham County jail late Tuesday in lieu of $1 million bail.

Police said they were continuing to investigate.
