Link to greenway will avoid Meredith

June 28, 2006

— The city will build a connector to the popular Reedy Creek Greenway, allowing residents near Ridge Road to access it easily.

The connector would run from the intersection of Wade Avenue and Ridge Road to the east end of the pedestrian bridge over the I-440 Beltline. The Reedy Creek Greenway runs from the N.C. Museum of Art on Blue Ridge Road to Umstead State Park.

Residents pushed for the connector because they cannot access the trail through the back of Meredith College and had to drive around to the front on Hillsborough Street.

The connector is being built as part of the House Creek Greenway. It is expected to be finished in late 2007.
