DURHAM — Durham police were trying to find the driver in a one-vehicle wreck that left several blocks of Durham without power for hours early Sunday morning, according to a news release.
About 2:10 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Broad Street and Englewood Avenue, officers found a 1997 Red Dodge Durango that had struck a Duke Energy power pole.
The crash caused a power outage in surrounding blocks, according to the release.
Witnesses told police that a man fled on foot from the vehicle toward Ninth Street, according to the release.
Power was restored to most homes by 8 a.m. Sunday, Duke Power officials said.
