Raleigh to collect debris from storm

From Staff ReportsSeptember 4, 2006

— Since the storm debris created by Tropical Storm Ernesto was lighter than expected, Raleigh solid waste services crews will collect storm debris as part of the normal yard waste collection service.

Yard waste is collected curbside on the same day as recycling and garbage.

Residents also should remember:

* To separate yard waste from other trash and garbage;

* To use a permanent container with handles, no larger than 35 gallons and weighing no more than 75 pounds when full; or clear plastic bags; or biodegradable paper yard waste bags;

* That limbs may be tied into bundles of not more than 5 feet in length, 18 inches in diameter and no more than 75 pounds in weight.

Also, residents who need pickup of a special load of storm debris from Tropical Storm Ernesto can call 831-6890 to arrange the collection.
