Morrisville commissioner resigns

From Staff ReportsOctober 11, 2006

— Town Commissioner Jackie Holcombe resigned Tuesday after less than a year on the job.

She said in a letter to other town leaders that "issues related to my health require my focused time and effort.

"As such," she wrote, "I can not adequately fulfill the role of commissioner with the energy and dedication our residents deserve."

Holcombe, who was elected last fall, was not immediately available for comment.

Mayor Jan Faulkner called Holcombe's resignation "completely unexpected."

The Board of Commissioners will appoint a replacement. That person will serve on the board until next year's town elections.
