RALEIGH — The Rev. James Forbes, senior minister at historic Riverside Church in New York City and a native of Raleigh, will speak about gay rights at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church today.
The interfaith service is sponsored by the N.C. Religious Coalition for Marriage Equality.
Forbes, who has spoken out on many civil rights issues, will talk about how same-sex marriage has been used as a "wedge issue" between predominantly white and predominantly black congregations.
The events will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a worship service, followed by lunch and a question-and-answer session. Pullen Memorial Baptist Church is at 1801 Hillsborough St. It can be reached at 828-0897.
