Flasher reported to police by women

From Staff ReportsOctober 30, 2006

— Police think a flasher is on the loose in southern Durham.

In the past two weeks, at least six women have reported that a man exposed himself to them in the area of Penrith, Villages of Cornwallis and Avon Lake Drive.

These neighborhoods lie on either side of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway between N.C. 55 and Hope Valley Road.

In one case, a male entered a female's home through an unlocked door. In other cases, a man tapped on a window to get a female's attention. The incidents occurred between 9 p.m. and midnight.

The suspect is in his early 20s, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 150 to 160 pounds. He has worn dark clothing and sometimes has partially covered his face with a hooded sweatshirt.

Police are asking anyone with information on this suspect to call Investigator J.S. Smith at 560-4415, ext. 228, or CrimeStoppers at 683-1200.
