Safe Kids leader gets national award

October 31, 2006 

— Fuquay-Varina native Kelly Ransdell has received the Outstanding State Coordinator of the Year award for her work in promoting injury prevention awareness through Safe Kids North Carolina.

The award was announced at the Safe Kids Worldwide national convention in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 19.

Under Ransdell's leadership, the organization incorporated new principles of performance adopted by Safe Kids Worldwide as a model program for other coalitions to use nationwide. During her tenure as director, nearly $100,000 in grant monies has been distributed to Safe Kids chapters across North Carolina.
