Holidays won't alter Raleigh trash pickup

From Staff ReportsDecember 14, 2006

— The regular schedule for curbside collection of garbage, recycling and yard waste will not be affected by the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays, according to the city.

Despite the Dec. 26 holiday for city employees, Solid Waste Services workers will work a normal schedule that day to collect household waste.

The city's Yard Waste Center will be closed Dec. 23 and Dec. 25 but will operate on a regular schedule for the remainder of the week. The Yard Waste Center also will be closed on New Year's Day, a Monday, but will return to its normal schedule beginning Jan. 2.

No regular collections are scheduled on Mondays.

The City's Solid Waste Services Department will pick up discarded Christmas trees as part of the weekly regular yard-waste collection. Residents should remove decorations from trees before setting them on the curb. They also should remove the trees from tree stands.
