Apex man charged with aiding suspect

— An Apex man has been charged with helping a murder suspect elude authorities after a fatal shooting.

Irving Arnell Cooper of 208 Whipporwill Court in Apex is accused of being an accessory after the fact in the Sunday morning death of Demetric Farrar Horton, 31. Horton was found shot to death in an abandoned trailer between Apex and Holly Springs, the Wake County Sheriff's Office reported.

Sheriff's deputies have accused Cooper of driving the suspect, Jamie Antwon Mitchell, from 4609 Craig Drive in Apex to an apartment complex in Cary. Mitchell remained at large Monday.

Cooper was being held in the Wake County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, the Sheriff's Office reported.
