Motorcyclist still in critical condition

From Staff ReportsFebruary 9, 2007

— A motorcyclist remained in critical condition Thursday after he crashed into a pickup truck, and Durham police are looking for the driver of the truck. They think the vehicle has visible damage.

Alvin Newsome of Raleigh was traveling east on Holloway Street in Durham when the truck pulled out in front of him from Beasley Avenue. Newsome swerved to avoid the truck and crashed. He suffered head, lung and arm injuries and was taken to Duke Hospital.

According to a Durham Police Department news release, investigators think a burgundy Ford F-150 truck might have yellow paint on the undercarriage near the back of the vehicle. It had a Mexican flag hanging from the rear-view mirror, police said.
