Ravenscroft 43 Durham Acad. 42

— With five seconds remaining Tre Cotten pump-faked, then hit a 3-pointer as the Ravenscroft boys completed a come-from-behind victory to win the Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Conference title.

"I feel like we deserved it," Cotten said.

Ravenscroft (18-10), which trailed most of the game, put together a 21-point fourth quarter to erase an 11-point deficit.

"We've lost nine games in the last three minutes," Ravenscroft coach Kevin Billerman said. "It was important to show we can win a close one."

Ravenscroft returns to the payoffs after bowing out in the quarterfinals last year.

"We have to be a good defensive team," Billerman said.

Cotten looked at the big picture.

"We haven't been a whole team," he said, citing injuries. "Now we have a team."

Durham Academy (18-12), which lost six seniors from last year's team, must hope for an at-large bid to reach the state playoffs.
