Severe storms possible tonight

From Staff ReportsMarch 1, 2007

The National Weather Services is predicting that the Triangle and other portions of Central North Carolina will experience high winds and possibly severe storms this evening and continuing overnight.

A combination of strong winds and a warm, moist flow of air favors strong to severe storms. There’s a risk of isolated tornadoes, as well.

The greatest threat for severe weather is from 9 tonight until about 6 a.m. Friday, with the highest risk for severe storms will be south of U.S. 64.
