DURHAM — A new EMS station is scheduled to open Thursday on Old Fayetteville Street, near the Hayti Heritage Center.
The 6,016-square-foot facility was built using $1.2 million approved in a 2001 bond referendum. It is just east of Fayetteville Street. The center will replace the facility at Lincoln Community Health Center, according to a news release from Durham County officials.
The station has three ambulance parking bays, two offices, a kitchen and sleeping quarters for five, the release said. Operations that used to be housed in the Lincoln Community Health Center will move to the new building.
A dedication for the new station will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, the release said.
