Cardinal Gibbons lost just 11 games in sweeping Warren County 6-0 in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2-A boys dual-team tennis tournament.

The Crusaders won the 2-A dual-team title in 2006 and have lost only to perennial 4-A power East Chapel Hill.

Junior Will Rollinson, the 2006 state 2-A boys tennis singles champion, rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Matt Short.

At No. 2 singles, junior Ryan Daly took a 6-0, 6-0 win over Taylor Tharrington.

Sophomore Jon Fedorkowicz, sophomore Chris Betz, sophomore Chris Ayres and senior David Watson all took straight-set wins.

"Warren County had a solid team so I was very pleased to win," Gibbons coach Barbara Gamblin said. "Our boys did a good job."

NCISAA 3-A: Durham Academy (15-1) blanked Greensboro Day School 9-0 in the quarterfinals of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 3-A playoffs.

"I was very pleased with the effort our kids put forth today," DA coach Sean Bilsborrow said. "We started strong in doubles and our effort carried into singles play."

Durham Academy won all of its singles matches in straight sets, led by No. 1 Parker Preyer.

NCHSAA 4-A: Defending state 4-A dual-team champion East Chapel Hill faces a key test today at Broughton in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs.

The match was postponed because of school testing.
