From Staff ReportsJune 17, 2007

— Police have identified the officer whose cruiser was rammed Friday by another car during a low-speed chase.

Officer C.S. Woodard sustained minor neck injuries in the wreck, according to court documents.

Raleigh Police blame Noah James Vendrick, 23, of 508 Tilden St. in Raleigh, for the wreck. They say he led more than 10 police cars on a low-speed chase near N.C. State late Friday night before crashing into Woodard's cruiser.

Vendrick was in the Wake County jail Saturday in lieu of a $21,000 bond. He was charged with assault on a police officer, drunken driving, fleeing police and driving without a license, among other things.
